ENGRAVED IN HIS PALMS
But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me (Isaiah 49:14-16 (KJV)
Israel is God's chosen people. God's word to them is His word to both the Jews and the Gentiles who come to Him through Christ. The people of Judah had been exiled for their sins and idolatries. The LORD had punished them, but His tender eyes of compassion were and are still upon them. He will never forget them. They are His people. He still chose them to accomplish His purpose for mankind, even though they were and are despised and oppressed by nations that took advantage of them.
Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee (Isaiah 49:7 (KJV)
The LORD, therefore, comforted them... Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted (Isaiah 49:13 (KJV).
He reminds them that he has not rejected them, no matter what they felt. This is the word of God to every child of God. Sometimes, we doubt God's love and even question if He hears prayers. It is written that the Just shall live by faith, not by what we feel or our circumstances. In our afflictions, His comfort abounds. He never leaves because He says that we are engraved in the palms of His Hands. No matter how high the storm, His mercies and lovingkindness abound for us. He says that the fire will not kindle upon us, nor will the waters drown us. That is why the LORD Jesus slightly rebuked His disciples for their little faith, and rebuked the storm to cease. We are not to fear for our lives because we are engraved in God's Palms. He promised His abiding Presence with us for He makes a way where there is no way. He is our Good Shepherd who will lead us to the green pastures and through the stream of waters. Blessed Be His Name forever!
Let us worship together with the song from Elevation worshippers: He Will Do It Again.
